Teaching resource for Halloween!

On the basis of different word cards ask the students to write or tell a story. The word cards will make it easier for them to produce the story as they need not come up with all the details themselves.

The exercise can simply be used to get students to start writing. Or, it could be used to make them retell a story, or a scene, orally to a fellow student.

Alternatively, challenge your students to consider how a scary story is told. What narrative techniques do most writers make use of? What is done in terms of plot structure in order to create suspense and tension? Which words create the desired style, tone, mood or atmosphere?

Good luck!
